Mates in Construction

MATES in Construction is a national mental health and suicide prevention charity: an industry-based solution for an industry-based problem.

MATES’ integrated program of training and ongoing support reduces suicide through creating a workplace community of ‘mates looking out for mates’. Our program is designed specifically for the construction industry and is based on the simple idea that suicide is everyone’s business. It provides ways for members of the construction industry to take an active role in improving the mental health and wellbeing of workers which means everyone plays a part, rather than leaving it to mental health professionals.

MATES has trained over 200,000 people nationally in General Awareness, 15,000 Connectors and 2,000 ASIST workers, whilst providing case management support to over 9,000 workers and their families.
